JEFIT Day 1 = failure!

So JEFIT did not have a set routine that would exactly fit my equipment. Given the volume of workouts on the site, this was a bit disappointing; however, one of the great things about JEFIT is that you can completely customize your routines to work for you.

So I sat down on Sunday, worked out what weights I should start with and created my own 4 day Upper/Lower Split workout. It looks like this:

Monday: Chest & Back
Tuesday: Upper legs & Abs
Wednesday: Cardio/ rest
Thursday: Shoulders & Arms
Friday: Lower legs & Glutes
Sat/Sun: Rest (or cardio)

My plan is to do 3 sets with 10 min of cardio in between each set.

So having created this "masterpiece" of a workout, I was excited to try it out on Monday after work.

.....

Cut to 3:30 Monday afternoon... I get handed a task that has to be done before I leave and will likely result in my leaving late from work. Sigh...Thankfully, I finish it only 10 min after my normal quitting time

I still have time to go to the bank and do my workout! I look at the window only to see the shuttle to my car pull away... double sigh... I decide to walk to my car because it will save me all of a minute and its a nice day out.

I HAVE to go to the bank... so it is my last stop before home and my workout, I am still making good time when I get there. I step into the bank and ... triple sigh... a line of 6 people (which is alot for this branch with 2 very slow tellers) that all look haggard and appear to have been hear a while.

*As an aside most of the people in the line could have saved themselves the time and gone to the bank machine*

20 min later I emerge from the bank and promptly hit left over train traffic coming out of the parking lot. The bank is literally a minute drive from my house... it took me 10 minutes. Quadruple sigh.

So by the time I get home, it is an hour since I left work and I have eaten 30 min into my exercise time. I decide to ditch the cardio in between sets to save myself some time.

This is where I discover that JEFIT and I have different views on what sets are. What I call a set JEFIT calls a superset, so I spend the first 5 min of my workout sorting this out. I also discover that some of the exercises I selected are not right and I should use a different one.

I made it through my workout feeling rather discouraged by the whole thing. For the first time in a long time I felt like I hadn't actually worked out. This has a lot to do with the change in pace from Insanity, but I was hoping the transition would be smoother. I know that starting a new routine is not easy, but I had hoped that, since I had planned this one myself, it wouldn't be so bad.

Last night I revised my routines and hopefully worked out the kinks.

Today will be better. Its leg day!
